Thanks to the Bedford Library Foundation, the Library now offers a pass to Castle in the Clouds in Moultonborough.  The pass provides free admission for two adults and two youths.  Castle in the Clouds is the Lucknow Estate, a rare example of Arts and Crafts style architecture that was built by a wealthy industrialist in 1914.  The Castle is surrounded by beautiful grounds and gardens, perfect for...

Change of plans...On Wednesday, July 8, we expected to have some members of the US Navy pay a visit to the library...unfortunately, they have had a change in command and cannot make it at this time. We are trying to establish a new time for their visit....we'll keep you informed.

  Summer is finally here and the Teen 8 Book Challenge at the Bedford Public Library has begun! Sign up at the library anytime during the summer and receive a journal to log your finished books. Once you have read 4 books, show your completed journal entries to a staff member and choose a mid-way prize: either a certificate for books from our used book sale room, or a certificate to have an item made on our new 3D printer! Wednesday, July 1st has been declared SUPERHERO DAY at the library! Everyone is invited to come dressed as their favorite superhero, real-life hero or comic book character...kids, adults, even library staff! Everyone in costume will receive a raffle ticket for a prize to be drawn at the end of the day. Be sure to bring your camera/iPhone so you can take SUPERHERO SELFIES with our standees!

Wanna be a hero this summer? All Bedford students entering 5th grade and above are invited and encouraged to join our Super Squad of Junior Librarians. What do they do? Mainly 2 things: Check off reading charts & hand out prizes at Superhero Academy, and assist kids with crafts in the Bat Cave. It's fun, and it won't take too much of your time over the summer. We have such a large team, each Junior Librarian is assigned an average of 2 or 3...

Real heroes don't reside in comic books! You're invited to meet and greet some members of the Manchester Mounted Police Unit on Thursday, June 25. They will be here with their horses in the lower (Common) parking lot from 11:00am - 1:00pm. No registration is required...just drop by and get acquainted...ask them questions about what they do!

Hey, kids! The time is finally here to sign up for the Super Summer Reading Program! Beginning Monday, June 8th, you can come into the library and get assigned to a reading team and start racking up points. Spiderman or Batman...which will it be? It's luck of the draw...and remember, superheroes don't whine...ever! All of the preschoolers will be reading for Dewey the Superdog's team. Book reporting and crafts will begin on Monday, June 22.

Did you know...? We are offering Infant and Toddler Storytimes this summer! The session will run from June 23 - August 5, in the usual time slots: Mother Goose on Tuesdays at 10:00am and Toddler 2s on Wednesdays at 10:00am Only the venue has changed....we will meet in the McAllaster Room instead of the Story Castle for the summer.
