COVID Messages from the Director

Messages from the director
Governor Chris Sununu announced on June 11 that the state is lifting the coronavirus stay-at-home order.  He also released the Safer at Home COVID-19 Reopening Guidance for Libraries. This industry specific guidance recommends many protocols for safeguarding the staff and public during the coronavirus disease.
The staff and Trustees of the Bedford Public Library are working to ensure that the safety measures are in place before announcing a reopening date. Patrons are encouraged to continue to use the library’s virtual services, online databases and downloadable audiobooks and eBooks and the library’s contact-free pickup of physical materials. More information about our services can be found on our website or call us at 472-2300.
Contact-free pickup service has been extended to Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in addition to Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
We will continue to offer library services and programs remotely to the greatest extent feasible while preparing for the safe return of a limited number of patrons at a time to the building.
Be well,
Mary Ann Senatro
Library Director

The Library is pleased to be in Phase One of our re-opening plan. The book drop is open for returning materials and Library-to-Go Contact-free pickup is running smoothly. The book drop and contact-free pickup are available Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
BCTV filmed a fun and informative video showing how it all works. Be sure to take a look, you might recognize some of the actors!
Coming in mid-June we will be adding an evening pickup on Wednesdays from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Before we open our doors to the public many considerations and safeguards will have to be established. Our phased re-opening plans will take into account the recommendations of the CDC and the State of New Hampshire.
In the meantime, we hope you take advantage of contact-free pickup and virtual offerings and call 472-2300 or email for reading suggestions. If you haven’t viewed Miss Lee Ann’s Kamishibai Story Time, it is a treat not to be missed on our new YouTube Channel.
Visit Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for book recommendations, storytime videos, and more!
Remember we are still here for you and Summer Reading will be starting soon as always!
Thank you for your support and continued patience.
Be well,
Mary Ann Senatro
Library Director

April 21st was National Library Workers Day!
The staff at the Bedford Public Library miss you all!
As Director, I am so grateful for the wonderful staff at the library. Even though we are a virtual library for now the staff continue to keep up with ordering the bestsellers, answering the phone and emails, preparing virtual programs for patrons of all ages and generally working behind the scenes to keep the community engaged. They even learned a new software and launched the April Reading Challenge! I hope you are all participating in it right now.
We are as anxious as you are to get print materials back into your hands and see your bright faces and say "hello" each day. We will be back as soon as it is safe and prudent to do so.
In the meantime, say “thanks” to your Library Workers!

Library Director

Dear Patrons,
Thank you for your ongoing support and patience as we continue to evaluate and adjust our library operations in light of the COVID-19 outbreak. We strive to be a reliable source of information and assistance as always.
Even though we are not seeing you face to face the library staff is working to offer as many virtual services as we can and to help you feel comfortable accessing them. We are posting reading recommendations on Facebook, offering online book discussions, and tech trainings.  We also added additional eBooks and eAudiobooks. Many of our vendors have added additional content for free during this time like World Book, Tumble Books and with more additions every day.
I know how difficult it is to be unable to gather at the library for meetings. The library staff has been meeting online complete with video and sound using Zoom. If you have some basic questions about how to get your group set up to meet online we can help you get started. Please email us at or give us a call at 472-2300 and leave a message and we will get back to you.
We will continue to communicate as our response to this outbreak evolves. We look forward to welcoming you back into our building when we return to a sense of normalcy and our community begins to gather again at the library.
In the meantime, please visit us at
