Sunday at the Library Concert Series-Nanette Perrotte

Come join the Friends of the Bedford Library for their February 1st  Sunday Concert featuring singer and storyteller Nanette Perrotte.  Nanette tells the extraordinary story of Ella Fitzgerald following her journey from being homeless in Harlem to the Queen of Swing.  Along the way she has great mentors: Chick Webb, Duke Ellington, Marilyn Monroe, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra. Then there is the Battle of the Bands –  the Cutting Contest at the Savoy Ballroom where she wins the battle over Billie Holiday.

They were known simply as 'The Lost Boys.' Orphaned by the brutal civil war in Sudan that began in 1983, these young victims traveled as many as a thousand miles on foot in search of safety. Fifteen years later, a humanitarian effort would bring 3,600 lost boys and girls to America.

Celebrate Model Railroad Month at the Bedford Library in November

Join the Bedford Public Library and the Bedford boomers Model Railroad Club to celebrate Model Railroad Month. The Bedford Library staff, assisted by the Bedford Boomers Model Railroad Club, will host a “Model Train” and “Railroad memorabilia” display on Saturday, November 21st from 10:00 to 3:00 and Sunday, November 22nd from 1:00 to 5:00.
