Read to Lucy

A new reading therapy dog is joining our Children’s Room – meet Lucy!

Each child gets 15 minutes of private time with Lucy to practice his or her reading skills. They may involve family members if they wish. This is a great confidence booster for reading aloud in class!

You may register for a time slot by calling 472-2300 or drop by to make a reservation for a reading session. There is no on-line registration for this program.

Ukulele Workshop

Have you ever wanted to learn the ukulele?
This instrument is among the easiest to learn and fun to play, making it a popular choice for all ages! Join Let's Play Music & Make Art for a hands-on workshop. You will come away from this 45 minute workshop knowing basic chord forms and everything you need to know to play some simple two to three chord songs. Dazzle your friends, family and yourself with your new found musical talent.

If you already have a ukulele, feel free to bring it. If not, we’ll have several on hand for you to try.

Instrument Petting Zoo

Let's Play Music & Make Art of Derry is bringing their Instrument Petting Zoo to the Library!

This is a great opportunity for little ones to get up close and hands-on with a variety of instruments including violins, hand drums, ukulele, guitars and more. These hands-on learning experiences are a great way to foster music appreciation and literacy in your child and set the stage for more in-depth learning to come!

Children of all ages are welcome to attend with their grownup.
