The Bedford Public Library Foundation will hold its annual Fall Gala benefit at the Bedford Library on Sunday evening November 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
The evening begins with fall beverages and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a talk by Ty Gagne.
Ty Gagne is author of the book, Where You’ll Find Me: Risk, Decisions, and the Last Climb of Kate Matrosova. On Feb. 15, 2015, Kate Matrosova, an avid mountaineer, set off before sunrise for a traverse of the Northern Presidential Range in New Hampshire's White Mountains. Late the following day, rescuers carried her frozen body out of the mountains amid some of the worst weather ever recorded on these deceptively rugged slopes. The narrative focuses on the decision-making processes of both the hiker and the search-and-rescue team.
Ty Gagne is chief executive officer of New Hampshire Public Risk Management Exchange (Primex3), a public entity risk pool serving local governments in New Hampshire. He is a certified wilderness first responder, and serves on the Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue Team and Board of Directors.
Tickets for the event are $30 each, but are limited. While available, they can be purchased at the front desk of the Bedford Public Library.
There will be copies of the book available for purchase and signing after the program.
