Backyard Birds Virtual Program with Steve Hale

This is an engaging and interactive presentation featuring common and likely resident and migrant visitors to any backyard in New England.  This presentation offers ID tips on some challenging birds that live among us like ... Hairy vs. Downy Woodpecker and Purple vs. House Finch.  Tips on feeding birds to attract the most diversity are also provided. Set up as a bird-quiz, audience members love to test their own knowledge.

Presenter Steve Hale, holds university degrees in marine biology, evolutionary biology, and ecology.  He has lived in New Hampshire over 20 years and has explored most of the state.  An avid hiker, birder, and experienced naturalist, Steve loves to share his experience and knowledge with others. Steve wrote his doctoral dissertation at the University of New Hampshire, where he studied the habitat associations of the endemic Bicknell's Thrush using satellite remote sensing and geographic information systems.
