What are your hours?
The Library is open:
Monday – Thursday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Friday – Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
What is available?
You may browse, check out materials, and pick up holds. Computer appointments are also available. Staff will provide information, assistance, and recommendations at a service desk or at a 6 foot distance. The copier and fax machine are also available. You may sign up for a library card in person or online. All of the library’s online resources are available 24/7.
Can I study or use a meeting room?
Not yet. Seating, study areas, the teen area, quiet study room, and meeting rooms are unavailable at this time.
Are there toys in the Children’s Room?
To keep everyone safe, the toys are not available right now.
Is contact-free pickup available?
Yes! Contact-free pickup is still available. You may pick up on the upper or lower level. Click here for more information.
Can I return my items?
Yes! Please return items in the outdoor bookdrops. Returned items will be checked in after a 72-hour quarantine. Overdue fines will not accrue.
Can I request items from other GMILCS libraries?
Yes! Please keep in mind that due to quarantine periods, it may take longer than usual to receive your items.
Are the computers available?
Yes, by appointment. Bedford and GMILCS cardholders may call 472-2300 to make an appointment. Use is limited to one 1-hour session per person per day and twice a week per person. There is also a 15 minute express computer that is first come, first served.
Are you accepting book donations?
We are unable to accept book donations at this time.
What safety measures are in place?
- Face coverings are required.
- Capacity is limited to allow for social distancing. We encourage you to keep your visit short (less than 45 minutes) so that everyone has a chance to enjoy the library.
- Signs and markers encourage social distancing.
- The new shelves and Children’s Room shelving have been rearranged to allow for social distancing.
- Hand sanitizer is available.
- Plexiglass barriers at the service desks.
- Staff will frequently clean high touch surfaces and disinfect computers between uses.
Is the Library hosting events?
All Library events will be held online or outside. Visit the Library Calendar for an up-to-date listing.
Are the restrooms available?
Yes. They are limited to one person or family at a time.
How do I get library updates?
Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and sign up for the library e-newsletter. Normally, we only send a newsletter once a month, but during the current situation we are sending emails at least twice a month.

The Library’s reopening is guided by our Phased Reopening Plan and Pandemic Policy, which have been approved by the Library’s Board of Trustees.
