Join friends and neighbors for a hit movie of 1996 on the big screen in the McAllaster Room to help us celebrate the year the Bedford Public Library building was completed.  Feel free to bring a small snack or drink if you would like.

At 2:00, we'll present the Academy Awards' best picture of 1996, The English Patient. During World War II, a mysterious stranger (Ralph Fiennes) is cared for by American allies unaware of his dangerous past. Yet, as the mystery of his identity is revealed, an incredible tale of passion, intrigue, and adventure unfolds. Directed by Anthony Minghella and also starring Juliette Binoche, Willem Dafoe and Kristin Scott Thomas.

At 6:00, the film is the highest-grossing movie of 1996, Independence Day.  The aliens are coming and their goal is to invade and destroy Earth. Fighting superior technology, mankind's best weapon is the will to survive.  Starring Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, and Bill Pullman.
