Lee Ann's Picks from StorylineOnline

While we've been working from home, Miss Lee Ann has taken the opportunity to find the best of the best stories available on Storyline Online!

If you haven't yet discovered Storyline Online, it's an entirely free website (and has a free app) that houses a collection of classic and contemporary picture books read by members of the Screen Actors Guild. The books are also animated, so each book is an excellent audio and visual experience.

Recycled Crafts for Adults and Kids

Earth Day is a perfect time to think of new ways to use old materials around the house, and with social distancing keeping everyone at home, many people now have the time to learn some new crafts or start a science project. If you need Earth-friendly inspiration for your next project, the Bedford Library has you covered with some of our online resources.

Developing Early Literacy through Storytime

In December Miss Lee Ann and Miss Carla attended the Mother Goose on the Loose workshop and returned with some extraordinary early literacy tips we’re excited to share in our story times.

Mother Goose on the Loose is a nationwide, research-based early literacy program facilitated by a presenter that uses nursery rhymes to create positive connections between children and their caregivers. Caregivers learn about their child’s development through “developmental tips,” which we will be sharing in more of our sessions to come.

We Love Graphic Novels!

If you have a child between the ages of 5-15, you probably know how popular graphic novels are right now. Middle schoolers are swimming in Dog Man, Raina Telgemeier, Big Nate, and more. Here in the library we are big fans of graphic novels as well. When your job is to foster a love of reading, it’s hard not to! Our first meeting of our new monthly Graphic Novel Club was last week and we had a full house of 8-12 year olds thrilled to talk about all kinds of graphic novels they love.
