This year spring officially begins at 11:06 pm on Tuesday, March 19.  However, you may have noticed some of springs most beloved harbingers returning to your backyard and birdfeeder.  Want to learn more about the birds around us and how they affect our lives and landscape?  Check out one of these books from the Bedford Public Library to help you celebrate spring and our feathered friends.

Spring may be just around the corner, but one of the most popular books at the library right now has a chill to its title! Based on a real historic figure, Ariel Lawhon’s The Frozen River tells the story of a midwife in 1789 Maine whose investigation of a murder threatens to uncover secrets and scandals in her community.  If you enjoyed this book, browse the titles below to find more intricately detailed and character driven historical fiction and mysteries filled with drama and suspense!

In keeping with Valentine’s traditions, many people are happy to give chocolate, cuddly stuffed animals and cards. Bring on the hearts pierced by Cupid’s arrow and declaring ones love. Fiction Books

Getting ready to put together your New Year’s Resolutions? You could set habits to eat healthier, exercise more and watch less TV - but you could also live vicariously through someone else’s resolutions by reading anything from the Stunt Genre. In this genre the author does something for a year and writes a book to tell about it. Examples of these books are:

James McBride's most recent novel, The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store came out in August and has already been making a splash, being featured on NPR, nominated for Library Reads and winning a Kirkus Award for Fiction.  If you're one of the many Bedford Library patrons who enjoyed this historical novel about a hard scrabble and tight-knit community that uncovers a secret from the past, browse the carousel below to find other books you may also like.
