Read-Along Books for Kids
Looking for an audio picture book for your kids to read from home? The Bedford Library has you covered with 3 easy-to-use reading services that parents and children can use on a home computer or smart phone.
Do you live with a tiny Disney fanatic? As part of their collection Hoopla Digital provides Disney Read-Along books with stories from fan-favorite movies like Frozen 2, Avengers, and Toy Story. The narrator (and sometimes voices from the original cast) reads while your child watches or follows along with the story book. Since we’ve discovered these read-alongs, my toddler is excited to read books on the computer, and hear familiar and new stories about Elsa, Peter Pan, and her other favorite characters. These check outs count as a book rental, so you can borrow each item for 3 weeks at a time. Even better, some of the books are part of Hoopla’s “bonus borrows” promotion, so they won’t count against your total borrows for the month. Search “Disney” under eBooks and look for the read along titles, or search “read along” to find other narrated books.
Little bookworms can find read-alongs on other Bedford Library services, too. Tumblebooks has a large collection of narrated picture books by beloved authors like Peter Reynolds and Kate DiCamillo, no holds or checkouts needed. On Libby/Overdrive, find classic stories like Llama Llama Red Pajama (read by the author!), popular characters like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and some fun nonfiction titles—just tap Explore, tap Kids, and scroll down to the list of Read-Along Books for Children.
