What is it? This award is given annually, to an author whose book receives the most votes from New Hampshire 4th-6th graders.  In the spring, children vote for their favorite book from a list of 20 titles that are chosen by the Great Stone Face Committee.

What is the purpose? This award was created to promote the enjoyment of reading, expose children to contemporary literary works, and allow middle school aged kids honor their favorite authors.

Who picks the books?  The GSF Committee (a group of children’s librarians from pubic and school libraries) has the responsibility of nominating titles. However they will accept nominations from teachers, students, publishers and school librarians.

What are the nomination criteria? The criteria list is long, but here are a few that might interest you:

-Titles that have been published within 3 years of the current school year.
-Must be appropriate for grades 4-6.
-Titles with other awards may be nominated.
-Non-fiction, Fiction and Graphic novels are eligible.
