Now that we are in the middle of fall, we have lots going on at the library and we welcome you to try out something new with us!
Happy fall! My name is Miss Grace and I’m delighted to be a part of this lovely community as the new Head of Children’s Services here at the Bedford Library. I have been working in public libraries, specifically in Children’s Departments, for about seven years and am very happy to be here in Bedford. My favorite book I have read recently is The Heart and Mind of Frances Pauley by April Stevens, which is on the Great Stone Face Nominees list for this year.
We are winding down after a fantastic Summer Reading Program. You can still read and come in for one final reporting for your team, and chose a book, until August 31. As of August 11th, the total books read by all teams was 17,876!
The STRUMMERS have read 6,537. The DRUMMERS have read 5,727 and the Rockin Robins have read 5,612 books! CONGRATULATIONS to all.
Stay tuned for the final tally at the end of the month!
The Summer Reading Program Finale is coming up! Join us Friday, August 10 at 1:30 at the Bedford Village Common Gazebo.
What would SUMMER be without our annual ROCKIN' FUN FAIRE!! Join us on August 2nd from 10:30-Noon.
Come ONE! Come ALL! The lower level of the library will be turned into a rockin' carnival. Step up and try your luck at some skill games and rack up points. Even the youngest win prizes.
Be sure to get your face painted by the incomparable Monica Leo of Trading Faces.
Online registration is open. Sign up today for this fun event!
We are excited that Bedford Fire, Police and Public Works will be coming to the library again this year! They'll be bringing their awesome trucks and equipment for everyone to climb in, touch, and learn about the importance of these vehicles.
The trucks will all be on display at the Bedford Village Common on Friday, July 27 from 1-2. No registration required.
Keith Munslow will be here to entertain us on Tuesday, July 24th at 1:30 pm!
What does Keith Munslow do? A little of everything. He tells stories, draws, sings, and generally cracks up his audience with hilarious school stories, funky, upbeat music, lighting-fast cartooning and on the spot improvisation. Join us for an hour of tremendous entertainment and lots of laughs. This show is geared to kids 6+. Registration is open.
Norman is known for bringing fresh energy to his shows. He views his show as a conversation with the audience rather than a performance for them. He gets the audience to react in ways they never throught they could. Swinging and smashing stuff, he makes hundreds of people suspend their belief with every show. You will laugh, scream and freak out!
Show date is Wednesday, July 18 at 1:30 p.m. - All ages are welcome.
Online registration begins July 6th.
What is taiko? The word in Japanese literally means drum. Come check out the thunderous sounds of the Japanese drum to experience the heartbeat of Japan through the sound of taiko! The show starts at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14th. There is a workshop for kids ages 6 and up at 11:30 a.m. Registration for the workshop is separate.
Online registration begins July 5th.
