Kids

Toddler 2s

Something new has been added to the Storytime schedule! Our popular Wednesday morning Toddler session is filled, but threre is still plenty of room in the Monday morning class, which begins on January 17th at 10:00am. Consisting of stories and action songs, fingerplays and related crafts, there is lots to attract our young patrons. Adults are expected to engage with the children in the program. In order to be elligible, youngsters must be between the ages of 24 and 36 months at the start of the session.

Book Buzz

The new year is here, and Book Buzz is on it! On Monday, January 8th at 5:00pm, all the buzz will be about I Funny, by James Patterson. The central character is a mid-grade stand-up comedian who tells jokes sitting down because he is in a wheelchair. All the elements are in place: family situation, bullying, friendships, and a large dollop of humor. If you like a good joke (or a bad one!), there's lots to amuse, as well as something to touch your heart.

Magformers

Magformers are back! Every month, there will be a designated time when we will put out our large collection of these fascinating building toys for free play. No need to register…just come on along. To round out 2017, Magformers will be available on Wednesday, December 13th from 12:00 – 4:00pm. Starting off the new year, we will put them out on Thursday, January 4th from 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Library Elf

She's back!!  Brary, the library's very own Elf on the Shelf, is moving in for another holiday season, planning to arrive on December 1st.  But where is she? She likes to get around a lot, so you will need sharp eyes to spot where she's hiding on any given day. We only know she will stay in the Children's Library. A small reward is being offered to any kid who reports a sighting to the librarian. Rumor has it that Brary keeps a list and reports back to Santa on how well kids behave in the library. But it's only a rumor...nothing to be concerned about!

Reading with Lilly

Is Lilly coming in December? Yes, she is! She wouldn't want to miss a chance to meet with the kids who want to read with her. Lilly will be visiting us on Tuesday and Thursday, December 5th and 7th,  from 4:00-5:30pm. Each child gets 15 minutes of private time with Lilly to practice his or her reading skills. They may involve family members if they wish. This is a great confidence booster for reading aloud in class!

Book Buzz

There's nothing like a cozy mystery to  chase away the winter chill...Why not buzz on down to the library on Monday, December 4th for some fun bookchat about Tracy Barrett's whodunnit, THE SHERLOCK FILES: 100-Year-Old Secret? Xena Holmes and her younger brother Xander are surprised when a mysterious stranger passes them a note telling them that they are descendants of the famous detective who shares their last name... and indeed have inherited his diary of unsolved cases!
