Cards for Our Troops

The holidays are upon us...a tough time for some of our military personnel stationed a long way from home and loved ones. A card from a child can bring cheer to  a seaman, soldier or airman/woman serving overseas to preserve the freedoms we cherish in America. Materials are available in the Children's Library....won't you stop by and make a card today? They will be sent off in the middle of November, so time is of the essence!

Lilly's Schedule

Lilly's back for a new year of listening to kids read! She is so excited! This year, due to popular demand, she will visit with us twice a month...usually on the first week of the month. Please note...November is an exception...she will come on Thursday, November 2 and Tuesday, November 14th..In any case, her schedule will be Tuesday and Thursday from 4:00-5:30pm.

November STEM

What can STEM possibly have to do with Thanksgiving? Join us on Wednesday, November 22, and you'll see! While Mom’s busy baking pies, you can meet the challenge of creating things out of candy corn and cranberries, and make your own butter for the feast. There will be a morning class for ages 5-7, from 10:00 - 11:30am. Kids aged 8-12 will meet in the afternoon, from 1:00 - 2:30pm.  On-line registration is open on our website.

Book Buzz is Back!

Readers, unite! The first meeting of the Middle Grade Book Club (Grades 4-6) will be a Meet & Greet on Monday, October 2, from 5:00-6:00pm. Along with chat and refreshments, you will have an opportunity to pick up your copy of the first amazing title up for discussion... Wonder, by R. J. Palacio. Imagine being a fifth grader born with some serious and unusual facial abnormalities...suddenly you're thrust into private school in Manhattan, after having been safely homeschooled your whole life!

Kids Go Postal

In keeping with our summer reading theme, "Build a Better World", we gave our young Bedford patrons an opportunity to thank some of the awesome departments and organizations in town that make this a better place to live. For the entire summer, colorful postcards were made available to the children, so that they could write their messages and place them in our own special "Mailbox". The results were very sweet, and in some cases, amusing.

A Word to Our Sponsors...

This year's Summer Reading Program was tremendous success! We truly could not have produced a program of such magnitude without the support of local businesses and organizations, and we would like to offer them all our sincere thanks...

Best Birdhouses!

Who built a better Birdhouse? We had 17 very fine entries in our family contest this year, and it was a tough call to decide which ones would come out on top of the tree in the judging. Each and every house entered showed wonderful craftsmanship and imagination! It was a joy for everyone to be able to view them on display in the Children’s Library.
