A Busy Month of May at the Bedford Public Library!

Get out your calendar and start marking, because we have a plethora of great events coming up this May at the Bedford Public Library.

The month opens with our regularly scheduled Tech at the Library class on the first Wednesday. On May 4th we'll be talking about LinkedIn Learning, a valuable online resource available Bedford Public Library card holderss with thousands of video tutorials on business, technology and design.

May 11 marks the first Junior Librarians Info Session. This popular part of the Summer Reading Program is making its first return since 2019. Rising 5th-8th graders and their caregivers are invited to learn what the program entail and get answers to their questions. The May 11 session is in person and there will be virtual info sessions on May 16 and May 18.

The Bedford Library Foundation is excited to welcome mountaineer, author and Antarctic guide Ed Webster to present their annual Russell Leen Lecture on May 12. Mr. Webster will bring to life the story of Sir Ernest Shackleton's famous Endurance Expedition 1914-1917, to tell an incredible story of leadership, perseverence and survival.

Kids 0-12 are invited to a fun and fabulous Pixies and Pirates Party on the library lawn on Saturday, May 14. Don your favorite pirate hat or glittery wings and stop by for refreshments, games and activities. (Weather permitting.)

Love a classic movie? Our final Cinema Sunday of the spring will take place on Sunday, May 15. Join us for a short presentation followed by a screening of Alfred Hitchcock's suspense masterpiece, Rear Window.

Get your PJ's ready and settle in for a bedtime story! Virtual Pajama Storytime is scheduled for Monday, May 23. (Registration opens on May 9.)

You may have heard about rising interent and phone fraud in the news. On May 25, Officer Shannon Gardner from the Bedford Police will be at the Bedford Public Library to present How to Identify and Avoid Internet and Phone Scams. Join us to learn some safety tips to help prevent yourself or a loved one from falling prey to one of these scams.

Last but not least, we'll be gearing up for a special program on container gardening on Thursday, May 26, to tie into our seed library. This program will be posted on our calendar soon!

In addition to all of these events, we'll also be offering our monthly book discussion groups for adults, Graphic Novel Club, and a variety of weekly storytimes in the children's room.
