Turn in Charts for Rewards

It’s not over till it’s over, as Yogi Berra used to say… We have come to the end of another successful Summer Reading Program, but don’t stop reading yet! You can still add points to your team’s score! You have until the end of August to turn in a reading chart and collect a final prize and gift coupon. Not only that, but you’ll get to choose a free book! Everyone who turns in a reading log here at the library will also receive a summer reading certificate. These will be handed out at school in the fall, with logs attached.

You Make the Cake!

Calling all bakers (okay, and shoppers)... The Cake Walk has been a prominent feature of our Fun Faire every year. The children march around the circle until the music stops... Whoever is standing on the lucky footprint gets to choose a whole cake or special batch of goodies to take home to share with his/her family. The Cake Walk is an old tradition, dating back to the 1800's, sometimes incorporating a dance form, as well. There is only one thing needed for a successful Cake Walk...cakes!

SRP Kick-Off

We're kicking off the summer in style with juggling comedian, Bryson Lang! He uses ball-spinning, object-manipulation and his tremendous sense of humor in this highly professional family friendly routine. Audience participation is included. Come and see why Bryson has been called "The Cure for the Common Show"! Please note: Due to construction work at Town Hall, our kick-off venue this year will be the McKelvie School Cafe, on Friday, June 17 at 1:30pm. Fun for all ages! On-line registration begins June 6th.

Junior Librarians Wanted!

This year's summer reading theme is: "On Your Mark, Get Set...Read!" We need some coaches to encourage kids by checking off their reading charts and giving them incentives prizes.
They will also need assistance in the Batting Cage (craft area). How old do you have to be? If you will be entering 5th grade in the fall, you are old enough. If you are 16 and have some spare time to help out, we welcome you! How much time will it take out of your summer? Very little...most kids average 2 or 3 shifts of 2 hours each over the course of the program.
